As a photographer, I really enjoy the opportunity to blend my passion for photography with my love for food. Recently, I had the pleasure of doing a photoshoot for Combo.99, a hidden gem nestled in the vibrant Gorgie area of Edinburgh. With its eclectic menu and cosy ambience, Combo.99 offers an array of culinary delights that are as visually appealing as they are delicious.
Armed with nothing but natural light, my trusty camera and a reflector, I embarked on a mission to capture the essence of Combo.99’s fare. From classic comfort foods to inventive fusion dishes, each plate told a unique visual story.
First up was the Chicken Burrito, a hearty Mexican classic bursting with vibrant colours and flavours. As the natural light gently cascaded onto the plate, I focused on capturing the rich textures of the tender chicken, creamy guacamole, and tangy salsa, inviting viewers to imagine the taste sensation that awaited them.
Next on the menu was the Chicken Fried Noodles, a delightful fusion of Asian and Western flavours. With its golden-brown noodles glistening under the soft sunlight, I aimed to highlight the intricate layering of ingredients and the delicate balance of savoury and umami notes.
Lechon Kawali, a Filipino favourite, followed suit, its crispy pork belly enticingly adorned with a medley of aromatic herbs and spices. I sought to capture the juxtaposition of crispy skin and succulent meat, evoking the irresistible aroma that fills the air with every bite.
Moving on to the Philly Steak Baguette, I embraced the challenge of photographing this iconic sandwich in all its mouthwatering glory. With its tender slices of steak, melted cheese, and caramelized onions nestled between crusty bread, the Philly Steak Baguette proved to be a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
Last but certainly not least were the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, a crowd-pleaser known for its addictive crunch and bold seasoning. Against the backdrop of natural light, I aimed to showcase the irresistible golden hue of the crispy skin and the aromatic aroma of fragrant spices, inviting viewers to indulge in a sensory experience like no other.
Finally, as the pièce de résistance, I arranged all of the above meals together, creating a stunning visual tableau that captured the eclectic diversity of Combo.99’s menu. From savoury to spicy, from hearty to indulgent, each dish told a story of culinary craftsmanship and passion.
