{"id":662,"date":"2015-06-02T14:49:30","date_gmt":"2015-06-02T14:49:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/philippemonthoux.com\/blog\/?p=662"},"modified":"2020-03-20T17:25:42","modified_gmt":"2020-03-20T17:25:42","slug":"newborn-photography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/philippemonthoux.com\/blog\/newborn-photography\/","title":{"rendered":"Newborn Photography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cA hundredth of a second here, a hundredth of a second there &#8212; even if you put them end to end, they still only add up to one, two, perhaps three seconds, snatched from eternity.\u201d &#8211; Robert Doisneau<\/p>\n<p>I really subscribe to the idea that in photography \u201clight is everything\u201d. After all, photography is derived from the Greek \u201cphotos\u201d (light) and \u201cgraphos\u201d (drawing). It literally means drawing with light.<\/p>\n<p>However, I believe there is an important exception to this rule. If you manage to capture a special moment in time, you can get away with less than ideal light.<\/p>\n<p>I kept that in mind when I was asked to photograph a newborn. One week olds don\u2019t respond well to direction, so there would obviously be no way I could fine tune my lighting. I would have to focus on capturing special moments.
