The area of the Royal Mile is replete with photo shoot locations. It is unfortunately rather busy during the day, but much less so at night when I do light painting.<\/p>\n

I connected with handpan player Milly<\/a> and we headed to Fisher\u2019s Close, an area I had scouted online. I took my time to find my composition, which is especially important for light painting given how long it takes to shoot all the frames for a single image.<\/p>\n

In composing this picture, I had to avoid some distractions to the left of the frame, and I always strive to place the head of the person I photograph “in a clean spot”.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If I had to shoot this again, I would try different pose for Milly, as I’m not quite happy with the pose I chose at the time.<\/p>\n

We then \u00a0headed to St Giles Cathedral. I had done some light paintings at that location before, but I was not entirely happy with the results. Since we were in the neighbourhood, I decided to have another go at it. Fortunately the lights were off so it afforded me a lot of leeway in choosing my camera settings. It\u2019s pretty easy to turn the lights on in Photoshop.<\/p>\n
