Initially, I had asked Sarah if she was interested in a trapeze shoot. But since she didn\u2019t know how to rig the trapeze at Dance Base studio 3, she asked her friend Rosella of Dair Entertainment<\/a> to help. We ended up doing two shoots in one. The advantage of having two circus artists is that one of them can get a rest while I shoot the other, so it is very efficient.<\/p>\n

I used the same lighting set ups with Sarah I used with Rosella. First, two speedlights at the back and in the frame, and one front light to camera right or camera left depending on the pose. I used the black background in order to hide the light stands holding the flashes.<\/p>\n

The two back lights help fill some of the negative space around Sarah for a stronger composition, in my opinion.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I needed to always adjust the height of my lights depending on the pose.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Then shooting against the light background I moved the two backlights out of the frame.<\/p>\n
