If you look up Wikipedia, you will learn that acrobalance is an acrobatic art that combines elements of adagio and hand balancing. Adagio consists of partner lifts, where one partner lifts the other in many different poses and positions.<\/p>\n

I first met Amy for a light painting project on Calton Hill, and I was definitely up for a shoot with her acrobatic partner Saya. It isn\u2019t possible to light paint this type of subject because light painting requires the subject to stand really still. We chose Portobello beach as the location and on this rare occasion I shot entirely with natural light.<\/p>\n

We did get a few strange looks from people walking their dogs on the beach, undoubtedly because of the rather unusual poses these ladies are capable of. The location is quite poplar for photoshoots, but they mostly involve regular models.<\/p>\n

I really like this composition and the shapes created by Amy and Saya. This is my second favourite shot of the day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Amy and Saya had brought several outfits, as they wanted to showcase as much of their acrobalance act as possible. Since shooting with natural light is a lot faster than with speedlights, I took many more photos than I usually do on that late afternoon day at the beach. More choice is not necessarily a bad thing.<\/p>\n
