According to Wikipedia, “it was John Clerk of Pennycuik who, returning to Scotland from France in 1646, purchased the estate and barony of Penicuik, the Penicuik Policies. The estate became the residence and title of his descendants”.
This beautiful location is replete with photo opportunities. I had always wanted to do a dance shoot there and Anna (with whom I had worked before) agreed to another collaboration.
There is a nice bridge with white rails on the estate. The first idea was to use one of the rails as a leading line to Anna.
The second idea was framing Anna with the two white rails. In my opinion, it would have worked better had the bridge been a touch narrower, but it is an idea I’ll keep in mind.
A dance shoot isn’t complete without some jump shots.
I then decided to switch position and use a longer focal length to incorporate more of the bridge rails in the frame.
As the sun was getting low on the horizon, I spotted some gorgeous light in the trees not far away and decided to use them as a colourful backdrop for some more jump shots.
