In the realm where art meets athleticism, I recently had the privilege to document the captivating acrobatics of Charlie and Rosella, a talented duo of circus artists.
As Charlie and Rosella mounted the Cyr wheel, I focused my lens on their poses. Each setup was a delicate balance of strength and elegance, a testament to their skill and dedication.
Photographing the dynamic performance posed its challenges. The lighting had to be adjusted carefully as the poses changed. I also had to make sure as little light as possible hit the background. I’ve done many shoots at Room to Move: I roughly know where to place my flashes.
In the hands of Charlie and Rosella, the Cyr wheel became more than just a prop—it was a vehicle for storytelling.
I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to document Charlie and Rosella’s artistry and to give them photographs to promote themselves. Their performance served as a reminder of the transformative power of art, offering a moment of beauty and inspiration in an often chaotic world.
