I was asked to photograph a lovely three bedroom flat near Murrayfield stadium, Edinburgh. The apartment was on the short let market, where it is essential to do your property justice on airbnb or booking.com. The photographs are the only impression potential customers will get before deciding to book or not.
When you get a quote from a property photographer, you should ask yourself this question: how many more extra bookings would I need to generate to recoup my investment?
For this property, the answer to that question turned out to be one extra night. It is impossible to compare the number of bookings generated by amateur photographs and professional ones, but I imagine a couple of extra nights in a year is quite likely an underestimate.
In this case, it is absolutely clear that the professional photographs helped the landlord make money. A wise investment indeed.
